TIM POMAVILLE

My name is Tim Pomaville

I am a multidisciplinary engineer with a strong foundation in Software and Chemical Engineering, and a diverse background spanning the automotive, chemical, and aerospace industries. Over the past several years, I've transitioned my focus toward modern Software and Platform Engineering, with a deepening specialization in cloud infrastructure, DevOps practices, and data platforms.

I currently work as a Solutions Architect, where I design and implement scalable, secure, and developer-friendly systems - integrating tools like Kubernetes, AWS, Databricks, and Apache Spark. I'm particularly passionate about creating psychologically safe, high-trust environments where engineering teams can do their best work.

My recent work includes building cloud-native pipelines, automating deployments, and crafting modular software platforms that bridge industrial operations with modern data workflows. With hands-on experience in both infrastructure and application layers, I aim to continue growing as a platform engineer and technical leader - helping teams ship faster, smarter, and with confidence.

Enterprise Data Platform Migration

Project Overview

Migrated a comprehensive data engineering platform from Docker Compose to a production-grade Kubernetes cluster using ArgoCD App of Apps pattern, implementing enterprise security and monitoring solutions.

Architecture
  • Multi-node Kubernetes cluster with high availability
  • ArgoCD App of Apps pattern for GitOps deployment
  • Keycloak SSO integration for enterprise authentication
  • Cloudflare Tunnels for secure remote access
  • Prometheus + Grafana for real-time monitoring and alerting
  • Vault +External Secrets for secure secret management
  • Data processing stack including Spark, Kafka, Flink, Airflow, Trino, and JupyterHub
  • Zabbix monitoring with comprehensive alerting
  • 12TB PostgreSQL instance for large-scale data processing
  • MinIO object storage for scalable data storage
  • Airflow for workflow orchestration
  • dbt for data transformation and modeling
  • Metabase for business intelligence and reporting
  • Unity Catalog for data governance
Key Achievements
  • Minimal downtime migration from Docker to Kubernetes
  • Enterprise SSO with Keycloak integration
  • Comprehensive monitoring with Zabbix + Grafana/Prometheus
  • GitOps workflow for automated deployments
  • Scalable architecture supporting 12TB+ data processing
Business Impact

This enterprise-grade platform demonstrates advanced platform engineering skills including container orchestration, identity management, monitoring, and large-scale data processing capabilities. The architecture showcases modern DevOps practices and enterprise security implementations.
